Respite Care

Appleberry Care Ltd was formed as a part of Nursery Staff Ltd (established 1998); to provide support for children who require additional help.
We either work privately for clients (including direct payments), or in partnership with local health authorities building up a three way working relationship with the social worker and service user (and/or representatives). We aim to provide a standard of excellence in our care provision which embraces the needs of the service user.

Aims and Objectives

We aim to provide personal care and support to our Service users which achieves positive outcomes, taking into account the needs, cultural values, religious beliefs and preferences of the service user to maximise the service user’s independence and inclusion in the community, whilst respecting the rights, privacy and dignity of the individual service user. Our service users may require help with personal care in the home or they may just need a companion to take them out on short break activities or to play activities with them in their own home.

We will ensure that all managers and staff are ‘fit for their purpose’ and are able to carry through their responsibilities for care and support of the service user.

We will ensure that the needs of the service user are continually reviewed, reassessed and (where necessary) updated to meet changing needs.

Services We Provide

Depending on requirements we can provide one or all of the following services:

Take the service user out to undertake an activity, pursuit or interest; or to undertake a task such as buying some shopping
Provide personal care and support for the service user in their own home (see below)
Act as companion to the service user (sit and chat, play games, read a book etc)
Carry out tasks on behalf of the service user such as shopping (normally adults)

Personal Care

Personal care can be split into four main types of care which are:

Assistance with bodily functions such as feeding, bathing and toileting
Care falling short of assistance with bodily function, but still involving physical and intimate touching, including activities such as helping a person get out of a bath and helping them get dressed
Non-physical care, such as advice, encouragement and supervision relating to the foregoing, such as prompting a person to take a bath and supervising them during this
Emotional and psychological support, including the promotion of social functioning, behaviour management, and assistance with cognitive functions.
